The IDF spokesman stated that the strikes were in response to the Grad, fired rockets at Ashdod earlier Friday and said that the army will be "standing step rockets to communities in the South and operate against all acts of aggression against Israeli citizens."

Earlier, following almost a week of peace for the residents of the South, warning sirens were heard in the area of Ashdod after two Grad rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip.
The rockets landed in open fields and no injuries or damage were reported.
Communities near the Gaza Strip had a short period of relative calm since last Sunday. A tense calm had settled South of Israel this week as a fragile ceasefire came into force, ending several days of attacks on Gaza and the IDF counterattacks.
Defence officials said that the IDF would remain on high alert along the border.
Sunday evening, a Qassam rocket struck south of Ashkelon, but Monday from the border was calm, with IDF, Hamas and Islamic Jihad to comply with a ceasefire would be negotiated by the representatives of the United Nations in Israel.
IDF sources indicated that they predicted that while the cease-fire went into effect, it would be probably limited in time.
"We have managed to repel a conflict on a large scale with Hamas, but the conflict is probably inevitable,"one senior officer said Monday. "

I am fed up with Israeli leaders, they have really not get, coexistence in the mideast means you have to take fire band of gaza or go to the Switzerland or the Finland to leed secure and normal life. This absurd situation does not exist anywhere elsewhere.

It is a hell of a truce. The problem is the activist loose Muslims are in a sort of control... they are dictating when they launch rockets, and when Israel will respond, and when there is a ceasefire supposedly this is ridiculous. Israel should return to Gaza and eliminate all militants, including the "direction" who is hiding in the caves. Problem solved!

Do you see? Hamas is being tested Iron Dome. They check what target Iron Dome will protect and what it will ignore. This shows a limitation of a defensive strategy, that it allows the enemy probe for weaknesses.
