The Agency said in a news release last week as a month after the disaster of March 11, 65 percent of ounces confirmed deaths of known age were 60 or more.
An another 1,899 identified victims were of unknown age.
Adding those who are still missing, the earthquake and the tsunami resulting killed approximately 27 500 people.
The Agency also reported that nearly 93 percent of the victims had drowned. Others died from fires, be crushed or other causes.
The earthquake and tsunami struck the rural coast, Northeast where there were concentrations of seniors higher.
